Each team now has an internal Forum for discussing team's issues. Forum administration for team admins will be implemented later. At the moment only game administrators can remove/moderate/etc team forum messages. Other players (except team members) can't see the forum.

- Settings button in the match selection screen
- settings are saved in a cookie, ie. are per-browser
- explanations for them:
      * FPS = frames per second, bigger value = smoother graphics but requires more CPU power
      * sync = synchronize graphics state after each frame (whatever it means), might smoothen the graphics, default setting on
      * disable Sun optimizations = if checked, only changed areas of the game area are redrawn, otherwise the whole screen on every frame; usually better unchecked with Microsoft's java, otherwise on
- click Save to apply and save the settings in a cookie, Reset button to reset them to defaults
- also the position and size of the game window are saved when you press Save
- if you want to change the settings during game, you can open the settings window by typing /set
- players turn faster in slow speeds without the puck; the purpose is to make controlling more intuitive and handy and defence easier and to cut down soloing
- players won't even try to avoid hitting each others when going to face-off positions
- some minor fixes

Some recent changes:
    - new dedicated database server from Mediatraffic Oy, might speed up the web site
    - moderator privilege given to some players which means they can mute offending players up to one week
    - some new statistics on player's info page. Possession statistics are collected from matches played in Training rooms and team matches, while there are at least 3 registered players on both teams

In all possession stats the puck is considered possessed when the player has held it for 2 to 3 seconds, or a shorter time if the player shoots/passes the puck. E.g. a steal is directly stealing the puck, intercepting(?) a pass, or taking the puck in any way when it has been possessed by an opponent.

New statistics columns on the page:
            * poss means how many % of the time this player has held the puck while the team has held it (not goalkeeper)
            * the next 5 columns contain the distribution of where the puck has gone after this player has got it: to a teammate, an opponent, goal, opponent goalkeeper, or icing or other error has happened
            * received passes and stolen pucks tell how this player has received the puck, ie. how often taken from an opponent, compared to how often from a teammate
            * the last column tells whether the player has lost the puck more often or stolen it from an opponent
    - in the end of each period you see the statistics cumulated during the period
              * poss = your possession percentage (relative to your team's possession)
              * scored = how many times you scored
              * assists = how many times you assisted a goal
              * passes = how many times the puck has gone to a teammate from you
              * losses = how many times to an opponent
              * goalie = how many times to opponent goalie
              * bad = how many times icing or other error after you had the puck
              * tg = team goals, how many times your team scored while you were on ice
              * og = opponent goals
              * rt = received passes
              * ro = how many times you stole the puck from an opponent

      - the statistics are collected separately from team matches. Different teams are shown on separate lines
      - also goals+assists are shown in the same way. Points from team matches prior to this change are shown in the Training matches number
      - some bugs fixed
      - round goal posts instead of rectangular, affects how the puck bounds after hitting a post

Did you always want to become a VIP player, but don't have a Paypal account? Then you have come to the right place. You can get VIP credits for free - just tell your friends about kiekko.tk. If five (5) of the players invited by you register themselves as VIP players, you will be awarded one free VIP credit.

How to do it: tell your friends your kiekko.tk nickname. They'll have to type it in the Refer: box on the registration page. If they make themselves a VIP user later, your "VIP friend counter" will be increased. You'll get a VIP credit when it reaches five.

There will also be a button on "My information" page where you can invite people with e-mail and see your current VIP friend counter.

Some recent updates:

  - /kick no longer works in Training or Pro rooms, only team matches and rooms created by yourself
  - you can use the /report command to report abusive behavior such as flooding, own goals, bad language, idling, e.g.: /report idiotboy92 is flooding here. Moderators can then read your report and solve the situation.
  - it's now more difficult to shoot the puck from mid-air especially if it's flying fast

There is now a flag image on the player's statistic page. It reflects the geographical location of the player as given by the IP address and WHOIS databases. It doesn't reflect nationality, language, or anything else than current location. If you don't want the flag to be shown, you can check the "hide flag" option on My Info and click Save changes. Kiekko.tk administration will not change the flag to something else, so it's needless to send us requests about that. Thank you.

Advanced player search is now available for VIP users. It lets you search players based on experience level, country, team membership etc. You can leave the name field empty if you're only interested in other search parameters. You can use ? and * as wildcards in the name field. There's a link to the advanced search on top of the Players page.

We have a new domain hockey.tk which you can use instead of kiekko.tk. Both www.hockey.tk and hockey.tk work as the web site address. The only difference to kiekko.tk is that the language is English by default, so if you advertise the site or tell your friends about it, give them the new hockey.tk URL if they aren't Finnish-speaking.

It is now possible to become a VIP user and order VIP credits by phone from around the world. We use the DaoPay payment system developed by DaoTec Telecom. You get a phone number and an order number which you enter with the phone keyboard after calling the number. After the phone call automatically terminates, your Hockey.tk account will get a VIP credit (or five, depending on your selection).

To purchase VIP credits by phone, click the VIP selection above and then the "Phone call order" button. Then follow the instructions on the screen. DaoPay works in most countries around the world.

Credit card payment option has been added. Now you can order VIP membership and VIP credits with Visa, MasterCard, and Visa Electron cards. For more information, click "VIP" and then the "Credit card order" button.

Note that this payment method is clearly the cheapest way for purchasing VIP credits - one VIP credit costs 1,30 EUR, and 10 VIP credits only 10 EUR. See the ordering page for current price information.

A new feature called Autoplay is currently being tested.
Main points:

- each player has a personal ranking points number
- the points are manipulated with the ELO system when you play in Autoplay rooms
- scoring a goal adds the number, more if the opponent is good (more points), less if the opponent is not so good (less points)
- if there is a level difference between the teams, also keeping the situation at 0-0 will give points for the "worse" team
- typing /ap or /ap4 in the lobby takes you to an automatically leveled autoplay match
- /whois and /stats on will show the exact ranking points during this test phase

There is a new VIP service available that allows you to customize your home arena. You can choose colors of the benches from about ten different alternatives. Color of each individual bench can be changed.

The coloring is used in team games challenged by the team, and rooms created by VIP members of the team which has the VIP service. The colors can only be edited by master members. This happens from the Team Settings page.

The service called "Custom home arena" costs four VIP credits per six months.

The /report command has been improved.

When you see abuse (bad language, own goaling, etc.) use the command to report the happenings to game moderators, for example:
/report StupidX own goaling

Moderators see the report and can then check the situation.

Now the reports are stored in a database for later viewing. Moderators (and game administration) can browse them afterwards if they couldn't handle the report in real time. This will greatly improve our ability to respond to abuse reports.

Along with the reports, a few lines of the reporter's chat log will be stored. Moderators can see
- public messages preceding the /report (including bluea team chat)
- private /msg messages between the player who made the /report and the target
- /team chat from the target, if the reporter and the target belong in the same team

Include the abuser's nickname immediately after the /report command. You must type it exactly right, especially if you receive abusive private (/msg) messages. Otherwise the moderators can't see them.

Only "team auto matches" award ranking points now. This update is aimed to tackle these problems:
- top teams sometimes can't find an opponent for hours
- carefully picking your opponents could boost ranking points so that they no longer reflect the team's skill level
- it's also frustrating for beginner teams who are being "hunted" as easy opponents

You can still challenge as before, but those matches will be no-stats and not ranked.

Commands to control your "looking for game" status: /ta 3, /ta 4, /ta 5, /ta off.

The matchmaker bot will periodically (30s) go through the team list and try to pick the most suitable opponents based on ranking points, game history, etc.

Note: If you use /ta and the bot arranges a match for you, you will have to play or it will be marked as a loss.

Logo and photo services have been simplified. There is no longer a counter involved. Instead, each logo/image upload costs a smaller amount (0.10 credits). If you had bought a image/logo change service but not used it, 0.30 credits have been refunded for each service.

We also accept Bitcoin payments now. Due to lower transfer costs, buying VIP credits is slightly cheaper with Bitcoin than with other methods.

We are arranging a Bitcoin week between 8 and 15 December. You can win bitcoins worth of 100+50 EUR by playing 5vs5 team matches.

Rules

1. The prize for 5vs5 ranking winner is 100 EUR worth of bitcoins. An additional prize of 50 EUR in bitcoins will be given to a random team. The matches are played as standard 5vs5 ”team autoplay”.

2. You don’t have to apply or pay for the competition. Playing team matches of course requires a team membership. The winner is determined at 18:05 local server time on sunday 15 December, 2013.

3. The prize in bitcoins will be sent to the bitcoin address given by the winning team’s ”respondent”. The respondent is the team founder, or, if the founder is no longer a member, the player whose account has been a member for the longest time. The sharing, using, or conversion of the bitcoin prize will be left for the respondent to do.

4. The exact prize sum will be determined using the current EUR-BTC exchange rate when the competition ends, however the sum won’t exceed the amount calculated using current (at the time of writing) rate.

5. Kiekko.tk/Hockey.tk administration will do the eventual interpretation of these rules, exchange rate calculations, etc. We reserve the rights to modify these rules, the game, the server settings, etc. during the competition. We may cancel matches or exclude teams if there is a reason to suspect foul play.

- The front page TV now shows top 10 goals of the week. You can rate them using the star buttons if logged in.
- The latest Java update breaks our applet. For now, a workaround is to go to Java settings (search for "Configure Java") and either change the security level to medium, or add our servers to the site list: http://kiekko.tk, http://hockey.tk, http://83.145.201.112, http://69.164.219.24

Update: the applets are now digitally signed so that Java should accept them without excessive warnings.

If you want to clean up your stats page, you can now remove or reset statistics on the new website: http://beta.kiekko.tk/ , go to Settings/Stats. This is a VIP service costing 4 credits per stats line. You can also reset your autoplay stats, which sets your personal ranking to 1000 and zeroes the time counter. After reset, your autoplay stars won't be shown until you play 4 hours in autoplay rooms.

Also, the new site now supports Facebook payments. This allows many payment methods such as credit cards, Paypal, Moneybookers, etc. depending on the region.

The hockey.tk domain name will be decommissioned. Please update any bookmarks, links, etc. to kiekko.tk or kiekko.tv from now on.

All hockey.tk URLs will stop working in November.

If you are wondering, the main reasons are: it costs 10 times a normal domain price; is probably too generic to be catchy; and Facebook blocks it universally for no reason, despite years of communication effort.

You can now use Facebook authentication to log in or register new nicknames. Password or email confirmation isn't required, but you're limited to no more than five beginner/novice accounts on the same Facebook account.

Novice players using Facebook login can create a team for free. The team will have free logo, jersey, and goal song services. No more than two non-novice non-Facebook members can join the team. Setting/changing the logo or goal song still costs 0.10 credits. You can get some credits by completing Achievements.
